Love Is In The Air

Happy Valentines Day to all the love birds out there. Want to know my Valentine? It’s Devon. Want to know her’s? It’s me! Thankful for all the love she shares with me each and every day. Who needs a crappy boyfriend in your life when you have a wonderful twin sister like my own?

The recipe we have to share with you guys today is homemade sunflower butter! Recently we have seen so many people using sun butter on oatmeal, toast, yogurt parfaits and we have been dying to try some. Apparently Trader Joe’s has a sunbutter to die for. But when you live in amish country the closest Trader Joe’s is over an hour away… boo! So we decided to improvise and make our own! This recipe was super easy and probably a lot cheaper than buying it anyway.

Homemade Sun Flower Seed Butter

Ingredients:

2 cups of sunflower seeds (roasted and unsalted)
1 teaspoon of olive oil (or coconut oil)

Directions:

1. Blend 2 cups of sunflower seeds in blender or food processor until the seeds become smooth. This process depending on your blender may take up to 5 minutes. Be patient.
2. Then mix in the olive oil to make it creamy!
3. Top oatmeal, yogurt parfaits, toast, or simply eat it by the spoonful! Yes it is THAT good.

This recipe yield 16 tablespoons making each tablespoon around 100 calories.
