Generic Weekend

15 Apr

Happy Monday!

Just like the title alludes, this weekend was a pretty typical week for us. It was filled with work, studying, cooking, and eating. Typical, but definitely not boring. Don’t forget to head over to Healthy Diva Eats to check out all the other marvelous filled weekends other bloggers had! We also heard that today is Katie’s birthday. If this is the case, we hope you have a fabulous (and marvelous) day! MIMM

We started off our weekend with a family dinner on Friday night. Our parents received a gift card in the mail from an anonymous person to a new greek restaurant in town. We both opted for the blackened salmon salad topped with gorgonzola cheese, strawberries, artichokes, tomatoes, and homemade balsamic dressing. It was fabulous! Our parents had pasta dishes and our stepbrother had a burger. Everyone was very pleased with their entrees.

Saturday morning breakfast smoothie. We blended together 1/3 cup of cooked quick oats, 5 ounces of peach mango greek yogurt, 1/2 clementine, 1/2 frozen banana, and 1 cup of vanilla almond milk. Topped with almonds and Kashi go lean crunch.

Lunch on saturday was a sweet and spicy combination. We topped mixed greens with lentils mixed with balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, cinnamon, and cayenne (such an awesome flavor combination!). Then we also added feta cheese, carrots, and 1/2 sweet potato.

While Devon worked, Kayla and our mom had a shopping date. On the list: Costco, Marshals, and the Tanger Outlets.

Our greatest find of the weekend was definitely this new cat bowl for Luna. It was only $5 on clearance at Marshals!

Our new favorite snack combination inspired by Eating Bird Food. Cottage cheese mixed with almond milk and topped with granola and fresh blueberries and strawberries. So yummy and filled with protein! We may or may not have had this as a snack multiple days this weekend. πŸ™‚

Warm weather means a come back for over night oats. Breakfast on Sunday was overnight oats in a greek yogurt container. Why wash a bowl when you don’t have to, right?

What was your favorite thing you did this weekend?!

That cat bowl is so novel. I’ll be super impressed if your cat doesn’t knock it down, or is it just mine who like to make a mess with their water bowls? πŸ˜€

The cat bowls seem to be staying intact for the moment. Our cat loves to make a mess out of her water bowl too! She is always splashing water everywhere. We are hoping that since now the bowls are higher up she will keep our floors drier. Crossing our fingers. I think our cats just love to mess with us.

Overnight oats are SO good. We are having them tomorrow morning for breakfast as well! And if you love cottage cheese you will love that combination. It’s heavenly. TRY IT!
