Strawberry Picking

3 Jun

Happy Monday! We seriously cannot believe it is already June 3rd! It definitely feels like summer though because this weekend was a hot one. Unfortunately, we suffered our first sun burn of the season. Only applying SPF 15 on a 90 degree day is definitely not the smartest thing we have ever done.

Besides the painful sun burn our weekend was marvelous. We started off Saturday morning bright and early with a barre3 workout online. Have you ever heard or tried a barre3 workout before? Barre3 is a mix between Pilates and yoga and we are loving it so far! It is definitely a nice addition to add into our work out rotation. If you are not familiar with barre3 you should definitely check out there website! A online monthly subscription is very reasonable and convenient for those of you who do not have tons of time to go to a local gym. We love the whole connivence of doing online classes because we can just roll out of bed at 7 am in workout in our PJ’s looking a little rough because no one will see us anyway!

After our barre3 workout we showered quick, whipped up a spinach, banana, and expresso smoothie, and headed on over to a local orchard with our mom to pick strawberries!
Have you ever checked out the local orchards in your area? Last year we found out about this orchard from a friend and we just had to check it out. At our local orchard you get to pick your own strawberries right off the plants and you can pick as many as you want. Once you’ve picked enough you simply pay by the quart or pound. Last year we got there late in the season but still managed to get a few quarts worth of strawberries!
This year we got there a few weeks earlier and the strawberry crop was much better. We got there around 8:30 and 1 hour later we left with 8 quarts of strawberries for only $13!
We got home and whipped up a big bowl of oatmeal topped with cottage cheese, lots of fresh strawberries, granola, and peanut butter. These were amazing but it’s getting a little too warm outside for hot oats now. Good thing we love overnight oats just as much (if not more)! If your not familiar with our overnight oats recipe, check back later this week for a post on our most recent overnight oats!

Thanks to Katie over at Healthy Diva Eats for hosting this fabulous link up on Mondays. Make sure to head on over to her blog to check out how marvelous weekends everyone else had.

What was the most marvelous thing about your weekend? Have you ever picked your own fruit before?
