Weekend Shots [2/17/14]

17 Feb

Sometimes the snow is awesome. Sometimes the snow sucks. This weekend was one of the later two.

Unfortunately, the unexpected snow storm ruined our plans to make a quick trip to visit our cousin. However, it all ended up working out and she found a beautiful dress to walk down the aisle in. We all three have a feeling that our dad had something to do with it. He likes to do stuff like that.

We spent the majority of Saturday being lazy because lets be honest sometimes we all just need a lazy day.

Sunday we slept in, made a big bowl of oats for breakfast, sipped our coffee slowly, and started studying for an upcoming exam. Then we spent a few hours in the afternoon at work and then spent the evening with our Phi Sigma Sigma sisters. Twas’ a good weekend indeed. Here are some photos to prove just how marvelous it truly was.

Another weekend in the books. We spent this past weekend soaking up as much family and friend time as possible. Between a Pho dinner date on Friday night with a sweet new friend, a Chipotle and Corona girls night on Saturday, and homemade pizza and craft beer on Sunday with our mom and Lou it was definitely a marvelous weekend.

Here are some shots to sum up our weekend, enjoy!

Weekend Shots [2/3/14]

3 Feb

Somehow it is already February. We are not quite sure how that happened but there is no complaining about it in this household. The start of February means we are one month closer to spring, warmer weather, and running season! These past few weeks have been so cold in Pennsylvania that we have not been able to get an outside run in at all! We know the treadmill is always an option but let’s be honest, nothing compares to running outside. Whose with us?

This past week was jam-packed for us! It was formal rush for our sorority and there were lots of late nights involved. Late nights and early mornings make for some sleepy sisters. We somehow managed to make it through the week with lots of coffee and finally caught up on some much needed sleep this weekend. Since we missed out on a WIAW post last week here are some snapshots from our past week and weekend. We hope you enjoy!

Another weekend filled with tons of excitement (and lots of good food)! Surprised? Yeah, we didn’t think so. Here are some picture to prove it.

WIAW Winter Break Edition

18 Dec

Hey guys, happy Wednesday! We hope you all are having a fabulous week! Can you believe there are only 6 days until Christmas? Yeah, we can’t either. All our Christmas shopping is officially done and our gifts are wrapped and already waiting under the tree!

If you ask us what our favorite part about winter break is, we definitely would say it is cooking and getting creative in the kitchen. During the semester our busy schedules make it hard to be creative and try new recipes but our schedules are wide open right now and we’re definitely taking advantage!

It’s Wednesday so today we are going to share with you all what we’ve been eating lately! Don’t forget to head on over to Peas and Crayons to check out what everyone else is munching on lately. We love Wednesday’s, and WIAW is definitely our favorite blog link up ever.

We were definitely creative yesterday, especially with breakfast.

A banana split for breakfast? Don’t mind if we do!

Overnight oats poured over a sliced banana topped with drippy almond butter, homemade quinoa granola, and shredded coconut. Best idea ever.

Lunch was an arugula salad paired with a fresh and juicy apple.

20131218-073955.jpg

We made a big salad for lunches this week based off of Kath’s beet salad recipe. We tossed arugula with roasted cinnamon and cayenne sweet potatoes, chickpeas, pomegranate arils, bulgur wheat, and sunflower seeds.

20131218-074002.jpg

Around 4pm our stomachs were growling and we had peanut butter cookie Lara bars to hold us over until dinner!

20131217-214429.jpg

We usually are not big pasta fans but we decided to give it a try and let’s just say we may be bringing pasta back into our dinner rotations. We always feel that a serving of pasta isn’t very filling but we bulked it up with kale, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, and chicken.

20131217-201723.jpg

We’re hooking on watching all 9 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy during winter break. We are currently on Season 4 and cannot stop watching!!Greys

In between episodes we snacked on siggi’s plain yogurt (love the ingredients list btw, just skim milk), a 1/2 of a crumbled trader joe’s blueberry bran muffin, banana slices and pomegranate arils.

20131217-214748.jpg

20131217-214434.jpg

And maybe one or two spoonfuls of this baby. Our mom brought us back a jar from her weekend business trip to Boston. She’s the best!

20131217-214423.jpg

Yesterday was definitely a good food day. We hope these photos inspire you all to add lots of vegetables to your next pasta dish, to go get in your car and buy those trader joe bran muffins, and to possibly spark your interest in becoming as obsessed with Grey’s Anatomy as we are.

Do you watch Grey’s Anatomy or have a series you just cannot stop watching?

It’s the Small Things on a Friday

2 Aug

Today is one of those days that is worth celebrating.

I completed another full week of Body Pump, and I am loving the results this new workout class has had on my body. I feel stronger, more confident, and proud to say that I lift weights. Heavy weights!

I had a photogenic breakfast bowl! It was overnight oats, topped with a peach, strawberries, cinnamon flax granola, and unsweetened coconut. Plus some creamy peanut butter! Can’t forget about that part!

20130802-203437.jpg

After a long day at work, I also got to participate in some retail therapy with my momma.

New finds include a 70% + another additional 20% off a maxi dress from Banana Republic, a stripped J.Crew sundress, and a fabulous new J.Crew bracelet to add to my collection. My mom scored a cute pair of nude J.Crew flats for $19 [go mom] and a stripped Banana Republic dress that works for both work and a fun day out and about. We also enjoyed some quality time to catch up, stroll the outlets, and to get some fresh air.

She even brought me a little surprise! A “super sized”  salad they were going to throw away at her work. She knew I’d love it!

20130802-203431.jpg

And the rest of my evening was spent skyping my other half, catching up on blogs/emails/magazines, and enjoying some me-time. It is so nice to spend a night doing absolutely nothing but pure relaxation!

So I don’t know about you, but I am pretty sure today is definitely worth celebrating.
What did you do today worth celebrating?

A Marvelous Family Road Trip

8 Jul

Happy Monday!

Today we want to share with you a recap of our fabulous 4 day road trip to our Aunt Dawn’s house in the form of pictures we snapped over the past few days.

Surprisingly, our iphones take some pretty marvelous photos.

We started off our road trip Wednesday morning with a peanut butter and jelly smoothie bowl.

20130707-184316.jpg

After we loaded the car we snapped a quick pic!

20130707-184644.jpg

We only managed to get five hours of sleep the night before so not far after we left a pit stop at Dunkin’ Donuts was much needed. Blueberry iced coffee for the win.

20130707-184309.jpg

We arrived at our cousin Katelynn’s house around noon to find this beautiful set up! She is seriously the greatest hostess ever. On our bed was travel sized shampoo and conditioner, a fun TJ Maxx reusable bag, the new allure magazine, gum, and coffee!

20130707-184301.jpg

After lunch we headed to our Aunt’s house. Check out this Fairy Garden she made for our cousins Katie Scott & Liza. She is so talented!

20130707-184246.jpg

The greatest thing about having family down south is definitely fresh Georgia peaches.

20130707-184632.jpg

For dinner on Wednesday we threw together a bunch of stuff. Aren’t these bowls awesome? They have mixed greens, tofu, avocado, yellow peppers, and carrots with Annie’s Gingerly dressing.

July 4th

We are huge fans of July 4th! It may just be because it’s our half birthday…we love birthdays. Especially because we are officially closer to being 21 more and more every day now.

We started off our holiday with a huge bowl of overnight oats.

20130707-184603.jpg

A on-the-go salad that was pretty similar to Wednesday night’s dinner.

20130707-184551.jpg

Our family had a pretty typical fourth of July spread of hamburgers, hot dogs, and picnic salads. Our Aunt Dawn picked up some black bean burgers for us and we enjoyed them with some fresh watermelon and a massaged kale salad!

More flowers, our aunt definitely has a green thumb!

20130707-184503.jpg

As well as picking up black bean burgers, our aunt also grabbed a huge tub of plain Chobani greek yogurt. For the past few days we snacked on greek yogurt, fresh fruit, and granola….aka the best summer snack ever!

Friday

Breakfast at our cousins house before we went shopping. Hot oats with cottage cheese, chai seeds, fresh Georgia peaches, Trader Joe’s sun butter and Kind granola.

20130707-184456.jpg

Friday night we threw together another salad. Leftover massaged kale salad with black beans, pineapple, peppers, and carrots.

20130707-184441.jpg

Saturday

Why do days off from work seem to go by so much faster? We didn’t want to leave!

After leaving our cousins’s bright and early we enjoyed a yogurt parfait on the go!

20130707-184425.jpg

Once we got home we unloaded the car, unpacked, and made a quick lunch before we had to work. Tempeh and fresh fig sandwich with grapes and peppers on the side.

Hope you enjoyed all our pictures from the past few days. Family time is always the best!

What was your favorite thing about your 4th of July weekend? Did you get together with family or friends? Attend a fabulous picnic or host one of your own?
